Paid Surveys -
How to Increase Your Conversion

Paid Surveys, from an Affiliate Marketers point of view, is an excellent niche to be involved in.

By recommending legitimate surveys to those who are seeking ways to make a little money on-line, you'll be taping into a potentially profitable niche.

Target Your Customers For Higher Conversion

Not everyone is going to be interested in participating in a paid survey. Making the assumption that everyone who wants to earn money on-line will be interested in taking surveys is too broad of a target to be focusing on.

Fortunately there are key demographics that will profit the most from doing surveys. Targeting those people will increase your conversion rate because of perceived customer satisfaction, or in other words, your visitor made money by following your recommendation.

  • Race

The Hispanic Market is booming and retailers are scrambling to discover more about this demographic.

  • Gender

Retailers know that statistically women are more likely to be the decision maker when it comes to purchases. Therefore women receive more surveys than men.

  • Age

The shopping habits of a 48 year old mother will be different than her 18 year old daughter. The 18 to 20 year old will likely receive more surveys because retailers want to see if their marketing is in touch with the current trends. With this feed back they'll be able to make any necessary adjustments.

  • Income

The higher the income level, the greater the chance that major purchases will be made in part due to the image that that product projects. Retailers of high-end products are interested in this feed back so as to fine-tune their marketing efforts.

Recommend Only Legitimate Paid Surveys

It is true that for your visitor to make any meaningful income s/he will have to join several survey programs. This is due to the fact that there are only a limited amount of surveys available at any given time.

The mistake that many affiliate marketers make is to list a large number of paid survey programs without checking out the program thoroughly. Any time that your visitors go to a site that they perceive is a scam, you've lost their trust in any of your recommendations. And it is this trust that will keep them coming back to your site to click on your other recommendations.

WOT – Web Of Trust

WOT – Web Of Trust is a community of Web surfers that rates Web sites that they visit. As of this writing (Feb. 12, 2010) WOT has rated 26,036,885 sites, and found 2,916,190 dangerous sites.

WOT is an excellent tool to establish trust in your recommendations. You can use it to see what others are saying about a paid survey site, and you can recommend WOT to your Web site visitors so that they can see for themselves that your recommendations are trustworthy.

Ask For Feed-Back

Asking for feed-back for your recommendations is an excellent way to gage the success of that affiliate link. If the comments posted are overwhelmingly negative, then it is time to remove that link from your recommendations.

On the other hand, if the comments are overwhelmingly positive, this will do much to improve conversion rates.

Join The Paid Surveys Yourself

By joining the programs yourself will give you first hand experience that you can then communicate to your visitors. Be sure to highlight the negatives as well as the positives, this will go far in establishing trust in your recommendations.

Post a “Scam” List

Posting a scam list will demonstrate to your visitors that you did in fact research the various paid survey programs. By doing everything that you can to establish trust in your recommendations, you will improve the chances that your visitor will not only click on your affiliate link, but will come back and click on all your recommendations.

What Makes a Survey Program Legitimate?

Legitimate paid surveys are paid by retailers who are seeking demographical information. If you have a program that is asking for money from the participant, then you have a scam. It's as simple as that. A legitimate program is completely free. They will not ask for any membership fees or shipping fees what so ever. And they will never ask for credit card number.

Legitimate programs will have a clear privacy policy and an anti-spamming policy. They will also have a physical address and contact information. It is not a bad idea to contact them yourself to see if they respond. If they do not respond in a timely manner, then your visitor is going to experience the same if s/he is trying to resolve an issue with the program itself.

Legitimate Programs will never ask for your Social Security Number. If they do then you have a ”Phishing site.”

One tool that can be used to check the legitimacy of a paid survey site is to go to ”Whois.net” and look up the back ground information of that domain. If the address is a post box number then you have a serious red flag.

Here is a very good example of a what to avoid.

What Are You Doing – Really?

It's your job as an affiliate marketer to recommend sites that your visitor will find useful. But in light of all the fraud that surrounds paid surveys sites, it is also your job to protect your visitor from being taken advantage of.

Every effort should be made to insure that the programs that you recommend are in fact legitimate. By doing so you will establish yourself as a reliable source of information. It is this bond of trust that will keep your visitors coming back for more, thereby increasing your revenue.

In Conclusion:

There are many legitimate paid surveys to participate in, and you should be recommending all of them. But unfortunately there are also a large number of scams to be wary of. Do Due Diligence to insure that all your recommendations provide the highest value for your visitors.
